Day 17

7/17/2020

Today has been a day of filming. I redid a tried and true favorite by Lena Dunham - a monologue of Shoshana Shapiro's from Girls. This iteration finds my Shoshana getting dressed and talking to an off-screen someone as they prep for the date.

My cousin passed away suddenly this week. The loss we're feeling from his passing is reminding me how short life is, how regrets can eat at us, and how, even though we may be far apart, we're always together.

Day 16

I learned how to make slideshows in iMovie. I'm very proud of myself.

Day 14

7/15/2020

Today I was unblocked from TikTok so I was finally able to post some content I had been sitting on for a week. I haven't gotten many views at all on that platform. I don't really understand social media or how gaining followers works. However, I like that the app forces me to be creative in short form and think outside the box. So, I'm going to continue to create any kind of content I want there.

I found a woman on TikTok and Instagram named Chef Shereen. She's fantastic. She has such an engaging presence and her recipes are so easy to follow. I decided that part of this creative challenge can be in the kitchen or outside. Learning and sharing anything new. So I made a truly amazing banana bread.

Day 13

7/13/2020

Today I redid some shots for the burlesque show next weekend. It was a blast because my mom helped as a stunt coordinator. I think the footage we got works so much better with her assistance. I also received some sheet music in the mail, so I'm working on learning a piece on the piano so record and upload. It's the song my sister and I sang at our grandmother's funeral ten years ago. I haven't actively practiced piano in that many years, so it's time to get back on the horse while I have the time.

I'm also going to double down on learning monologues and things to post. I need to get back to that grind, I think.

Day 12

7/12/2020

Today was another planning day. I worked on editing videos for TikTok and started to learn how to use photoshop. I have several self-shot photo series that I want to upload to this website and to other platforms and I know that being at least familiar with Creative Cloud is going to serve me well. I think I might do a live show at the end of the month. I'm trying to figure out the best place to do that - Instagram live or Twitch or Facebook or maybe through this website. I'm not sure. We'll have to see.

Day 11

7/11/2020

I was asked to be in a burlesque music video later this month so today I spent time filming portions of footage for that. It was so much. I love that I have different outlets for creativity. I'm excited to see the finished product on 7/19.

Day 10

7/10/2020

Today I decided that I will allow myself to post videos when I have something completed, but also that I will let creativity be in whatever form I want it to be. I don't want this challenge to end in 30 days, I want it to keep going, so I'm going to keep going. That could mean making something with my hands, cooking, voice recording, learning songs and practicing things, writing. As long as I document it, that's important part. I want to share and inspire myself and others.  Today I did a photo shoot for my burlesque persona. It was a blast. I also did some other photos and some TikTok content to post later.

Day 9

7/9/2020

I edited and uploaded my on-camera acting reel. This is the culmination of my time at Academy of Art University. You can also find it here. I've also created a longer video which I'll be posting to YouTube soon.

Day 8

7/8/2020

Today I worked on some content creation as well. I formulated some ideas so that the rest of the week I could really put the petal to the metal and film and shoot some things. I also needed to take the time to reorganize myself and plan for the next week or so. There will be more silliness on TikTok as soon as I'm allowed, more photo shoots, more monologues and poems, and I'm going to try to do some scenes. I'm also working on writing pieces to speak as well as learning some songs to sing/record.

Day 7

7/7/2020

Being creative daily is not as daunting a task as one would think. It can definitely be daunting to try to post something daily, but I've relieved myself of that task. Today I had to deal with an issue on TikTok - I was censored because I shared a clip of a video in which my butt cheeks were visible. That's ridiculous. I'm blocked from posting on the app for a week now, so I'm working on creating content instead. I did a photoshoot today that I'll be posting later this week. I'm really excited about the different types of content I'm creating. I'm also trying to find people with whom to collaborate. I have two photographers I've connected with, so that's very exciting.
